Skin care is somewhat of a science. There are facts, rules, and methods to be learned, but nobody seems to have the time to learn it all. The good news is taking the best care of your skin is relatively easy since all you have to do is change up your daily routine with more natural solutions and the right vegan products.  But its also wise to become educated about your skin, to decipher the myths from the facts. Lets debunk some common myths that you probably have heard before, and the real truth.

Myth # 1- You’re Skin Doesn’t Absorb Anything Into The Bloodstream
That is not true. Once a topical product is applied to the skin, the chemicals are absorbed and flow into your bloodstream. As they travel via your lymphatic system, they soon pass through your body’s natural filters where they are soon “disposed” off. However, the remaining chemicals still linger inside our bodies where they can soon accumulate to potentially toxic levels. This is why its so important to use natural and vegan products, because our skin essentially “eats” what we put on it!

Myth # 2- If The Product Is Labeled “Dermatologist Tested”, Then It Must Be Safe
Maybe it is, and maybe it isn’t. Loosely applied marketing tricks(like the phrase above) are often used by various mainstream companies to sell their products. They know that  various statements or labels make a selling point, after all who doesn’t trust a dermatologist or scientific fact. And even then, some dermatologists specialize in skin care products which are most often toxic chemical combinations that we wouldn’t want to use anyway. Vegan products are best.

Myth # 3- Regular Facials Are Key To A Healthy Complexion
According to WebMD, facials and microdermabrasions contribute nothing; and sometimes can trigger cases of skin breakouts. Facials are often just another form of exfoliation, often by the means of harsh or abrasive chemical agents.  Skip the facial(or microdermabrasion) and exfoliate your face at least once a week with an all-natural cleanser. Remember that taking better care of your skin becomes easier once you know the facts.
