I will repeat: stay hydrated. Dehydration is the number one cause of headaches and migraines, sluggishness and maybe surprisingly (perhaps not) anger. What is true for what goes in your body is also true for what goes on your skin. Is your skin hydrated enough?

A flavorful and easy addition to keep hydrated: lemon cucumber water (aka Spa Water). At a resort, you can pay up to $3 a glass (included a pretty curly straw and lemon wedge sitting on glass). The lemon cucumber water can be used in a spritzer bottle to refresh parched skin for an afternoon pick me up too.

Recipe:
1 small Meyer lemon (or whatever you can get at your farmer’s market, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, etc)
1 small cucumber (I use Persian cucumbers. You may opt for other varieties)
Water bottle (BPA free!)
Filtered water
(do not use ice!)
Optional: 1 mint sprig

Wash lemon and cucumbers. Slice lemons. Slice cucumbers. Add into clean water bottle. Top off with filtered water. Chill in fridge overnight. In the morning you will have a nice bottle of lemon cucumber water, which only took one lemon, one cucumber, and a few minutes of your time to make.

Lemon’s acidity mixed with cucumber’s alkalinity balance the pH. Trace minerals, limonine oil and burst of flavor does a body good! The best part: after the water is all done, the lemon cucumbers are edible and compostable. Or place them on your eye lids and rest for 20 minutes.
