Mother Nature Is The Best Healing Medicine
Mother Nature is the best medicine. She provides for us in many wonderful ways and she holds the key to most of our health problems. Sadly, many people either ignore her precious gifts or forget about them. In the 1800’s, Dr. Harvey Kellogg founded a wonderful health clinic, called the “Battle Creek Sanitarium,” to heal patients suffering from various ailments. Patients came to his clinic for the famous health spa treatment expecting to receive alternative health treatments that were intended to heal and restore balance, wellness, and wholeness, and they were not disappointed.
Dr. Kellogg’s famous healing treatments became well sought after and many patients left his clinic feeling immense gratitude for keeping them well. Today, in the 21st Century, the year 2009, health and wellness is approached and treated completely different from the days of the “Sanitarium”, and the health spa treatment concept is not nearly as popular as many think it should be. The Hippocratic Oath, which says “to let food be they medicine and let medicine be thy food,” is rarely acknowledged or followed, except in times of crisis or emergency. Instead, “slash and burn” is the popular common approach to medicine and pharmaceutical medications.
“Slash and burn” is a coined phrase that describes the archaic practice of treating ailments and health problems with either surgery or pharmaceutical medication or both. Pharmaceutical medications contain unhealthy synthetic ingredients, many of which are derived from petro-chemicals and synthetics, such as plastic. The worst part about taking pharmaceutical medications is the fact that there have potentially very harmful side effects. Getting a health spa treatment that utilizes natural medicinal herbs and plants is really the best alternative to most personal care products and many pharmaceutical medications. It makes sense to treat a disease or illness with a grassroots holistic approach and deal with the actual cause of the problem.
