A do-it-yourself facial steam works wonders as a deep cleanser and detoxifier. Using a facial steam with natural herbs is a way of having your own home spa treatments. And not only do facial steams moisturize your skin, they open up your pores thereby enhancing your skin’s ability to absorb the natural herb’s benefits.

Remember that how often you do this should depend on your skin’s type. For example you should give yourself a facial steam about once a week if your skin is normal, for dry skin it should be no more than once every two weeks, and at least twice a week for oily types. You can view these steams as home spa treatments. Just remember that you should never get a facial steam if you have certain conditions such as asthma or heart disorders.

How to prepare for a natural facial steam: select the natural herbs vitamins(dried or fresh, it doesn’t really matter) that are best fit for your skin’s issues. For those who need a general cleansing, select gentle herbs like lavender or chamomile. If you have dry skin, you’ll want cornflower or sweet violet. And sage or yarrow or best suited for those with oily skin. Select just one herb, about 3 or 4 tablespoons and place them in a ceramic bowl(or any bowl that can handle hot water. Pour about 6 cups of hot, boiling water into the bowl. Next, stir with a wood spoon. Move your face to about 20 inches close to the bowl, and place a thick towel to cover both your head and bowl. Close your eyes and remain near the bowl for about 10 minutes. When your done, splash your face with cool drops of water to cool down your skin’s temperature. So you see, creating and applying your own home spa treatments is not hard at all.

Doing this with some sort of frequency will help your skin look and feel its best. Luckily, you don’t always have to use the same natural herbs, vitamins every time, it is okay to change it up a bit. Remember to avoid any herb that causes your skin to have an allergic reaction, and should you ever have an allergic reaction to any natural plant or herb, it would be best to eliminate the plant completely from your home spa treatments.
