The Day I Became Aware of Natural Hair Products
The day I was introduced to natural hair products helped me to become organic and aware. A haircut became quite the educational eye opener. As the aesthetician massaged my neck, she filled the room with healing soothing aromatherapy. I relaxed and began to feel alive, energized, and at ease.
She and the salon owner talked to me while she cut my hair and educated me about the wonderful products. I learned something upsetting, but it opened my eyes. For years, I had followed my Mom’s strange ritual of applying baby oil to my face after washing it with a supposed skin-softening soap bar, and washing my hair with not natural hair care products.
Little did I know that I was putting gasoline on my face! I started to read a magazine that was filled with informative environmental awareness articles. I learned that baby oil is mineral oil and fragrance. Contrary to what the mainstream commercials say, mineral oil is highly refined processed gasoline. Synthetic toxic adulterated fragrance is combined with the mineral oil. The end product is baby oil. It’s the same with shampoos. There are numerous nasty ingredients in most of the shampoos on the shelf today, and this is why I only use natural hair products.
Fortunately, I was young at the time. I had a chance to reverse the potential damage that the toxic product had caused. I felt bad and I was concerned that I had caused serious damage to my skin and cells. I realized that all those years of my skin feeling greasy and leathery was due to the toxic effect of the petroleum.
Today, I’m very grateful to be organic-minded and aware. I use only organic lavender soap for personal hygiene and bathing. I gently rinse my face with filtered water. When I need some moisturizer, I either use rose water or toning mist. I use only 100% natural organic products on my skin and only natural hair care products. My health is important and contributing to a healthy clean green Planet Earth is important too!
