Top 5 Helpful Household Uses of Tea Tree Essential Oil
Once again, the magic of tea tree oil appears to tackle your most common household problems. With it’s anti-septic and anti-microbial properties, Melaleuca alternifolia, otherwise more commonly known as Tea Tree Essential Oil, is your multipurpose solution to:
- Kill germs in your washing machine: add 10-20 drops per load of laundry in warm water (may add a few more drops for larger loads). Linens will be disinfected and smelling fresh and clean.
- Kill mildew in your shower: add 30-35 drops into a 12 oz spray bottle with warm water. Shake well and spray onto shower curtains and tub after each bath and air dry. Spritz again and wipe clean the curtain at least once a week.
- Clean your dishwasher: add 20-30 drops of tea tree essential oil in dispenser cup. Fill the rest with dishwashing liquid. Run on warm.
- Natural pesticide: add 30-40 drops of tea tree essential oil to spray bottle and warm soapy water. Mix until bubbles form. Spray liberally around house, especially outside in cracks and under cupboards. Let dry completely.
- Clean your plants: add 5-10 drops of tea tree essential oil to a 32 ounce bottle of water, then add 10 drops of hydrogen peroxide. Mix well and mist plant with spray bottle. Do NOT wipe off.
