As I have said before, many products that claim to be natural, like natural skin lotion, are really not. Sure they may contain emollients, emulsifiers, and humectants, which can be derived from natural sources, but sometimes they are chemically made(read: not from natural sources).  How do you know the difference? Do your research and read the labels. Here is some information to help you.

Emollients are often found in lotion in skin care products, like natural skin lotion. The difference is that natural emollients are biodegradable and synthetic emollients are not. Natural emollients are found in plant oils (such as avocado or rosehip oils), shea butter, or cocoa butter.

Generally acne is considered an adolescent problem. But adults are not immune to acne and other skin infections. There is not a singular cause of adult acne, instead acne is usually caused by a variety of conditions including hormone imbalances, free radicals, clogged pores due to over production of sebum, stress, and even foods that cause acne, along with many other factors. Examples include high Vitamin K intake and synthetic hydrated vegetable oils.

Summer days and nights can be very hot and uncomfortable.  The popular choice is to take a swim in a friend’s swimming pool or in the nearest body of water.  For those times when you’re not cooling down in the water, you’re going to want a good deodorant.  But it’s important to be careful when choosing a healthy deodorant because many mainstream deodorantscontain fragrance, petro-chemicals, irritants, and ALUMINUM.  While some companies are becoming wise to the dangers of aluminum, many deodorants still have it as a main ingredient.  Aluminum is very unhealthy and suffocates the skin, so choosing a deodorant without aluminum is a must.

Neem? Unless you are from South or Southern Asia, this unfamiliar sounding name is a mystery. But there is no mystery in the power it has against mosquitos, skin inflammations and even gum disease…just to name a few.

Neem (Azadirachta indica) is an evergreen tree found all across India, Burma (Myanmar) and most of South Asia. Neem oil is most commonly used in medicinal and farming products. Now neem has crossed over to beauty products. There is no mistaking the bitter scent of neem. The triglycerides and large amounts of triterpenoid compounds is what gives neem it’s bitterness. It can best be described as a cross between peanut oil and garlic. Don’t let that deter you though from it’s wonderful benefits!

One of the most important ingredients in most natural beauty products and natural beauty cosmetics is something that we use every day. Its also something that we get virtually for free.  It is often considered a natural resource. I am talking about water (H20). Even though a good portion of our bodies contain water, we still need to replenish it. Water is important to drink (at least eight glasses a day), and its also a key ingredient in a lot of natural beauty products.
